Kudu antilope in Kafue National Park, Zambia. Fine Art wildlife foto Belonging door Julia Eilert

STATEMENT PIECE ON MUSEUM-QUALITY ACRYLIC GLASS · LIMITED EDITION OF 10

Belonging

This isn't a photo of a mother and her young. This is a picture of home

A mother kudu protecting her young, captured in the warm light of the setting sun. Together, they form an image where connection, trust, and protection become tangible. A moment that reminds you of the loved ones with whom you feel safe and at home.

This piece brings warmth to a room. In an inviting living room, a dining room where you gather daily, or a wide hallway, this piece truly comes into its own. That's why it's only available in large formats, so it can fill a space completely.

A meaningful piece for anyone who wants their house to feel like home. A daily reminder of the people who matter most to you.

Which size is right for you?

The right size depends not only on the wall space you have available, but also on the distance from which you'll view the piece.

A good rule of thumb: minimum viewing distance = image diagonal x2. The larger the piece, the more distance you need to let the image come into its own.

The acrylic glass pieces, which are only available in large formats, look best in a room where you can step back far enough. In a narrow hallway, where you can stand no more than a meter from the wall, a piece that large isn't the best fit.

Limited Edition

Each work printed on acrylic glass is released as a Limited Edition of no more than 10 pieces, regardless of the size selected.

In addition to these 10 editions, I reserve one Artist’s Proof for my personal collection. This piece is not for sale and is not part of the edition.

Once all 10 editions have been sold, the work will never be printed again. This means you own a unique, limited-edition Fine Art wildlife photograph of which only 10 editions exist worldwide.

With respect for nature

All photographs are taken by me, Julia Eilert. I travel to the places where these animals live and spend weeks in the bush, searching for rare moments and true characters. The animals I photograph are wild, living in their natural habitat within protected areas in Africa.

Their wellbeing always comes first. I keep a respectful distance, never place animals in stressful or harmful situations, and never use food or any other tricks to provoke behaviour. I do not use AI to create or alter my photographs.

Every image you see is a real moment, captured far away from the human world, exactly as it unfolded.

The story behind the photo

We were out on a quiet afternoon safari in Kafue National Park, and the sun was already low. Normally, this is the hour I wait for: the last light of the day gives a photo the most beautiful, golden tones.

This time, we didn't have a sighting at that moment, and it was starting to get dark. The chance of a good photo seemed gone. Until the sky suddenly turned pink. At exactly that moment, we came across this mother kudu with her young. We kept our distance so as not to disturb them, because mothers with young are extra alert.

As the colours in the sky reached their peak, the mother kudu ran to the top of a termite mound, overlooking the plain. Her young followed and stood right in front of her. The moment they both looked our way at the same time, standing in the exact same pose, that's when it all came together. These are the moments in the bush you hope for.

Behind the lens

Hi, I’m Julia Eilert, a wildlife photographer from the Netherlands with a deep love for Africa. What began as an internship in Cape Town grew into a life where I hope to spend as much time as possible in the African bush.

During every safari, I’m searching for images that reveal character and tell a story. A look, a posture, a fleeting moment that keeps pulling you in. I don’t just want you to see what I saw; I want you to feel what I felt. That’s what I try to capture during the long, quiet hours I spend in the bush.

Wildlife photography is special to me because it demands patience, presence and the ability to recognise the moment the instant it appears.

When one of my images becomes a Fine Art print on your wall, I hope it becomes more than a beautiful photograph. I hope you discover something new every time you look at it, that you feel the tension, stillness or adrenaline I experienced myself, and that it carries you straight into the African wilderness.
